The Children’s Liturgy group has been running at St Mary’s for over ten years.
Each week, we begin in church for the start of the 10.30 Mass to hear Fr John’s opening prayer, before heading over to the stable (the building is next to the church and is the parish’s comfortable meeting place) and we welcome all parents who choose to come along with their children.
Mindful of child safeguarding protocols, there are always at least two adults who hold current Enhanced DBS certification.
The group sometimes numbers just a couple of children but can include as many as 15. It’s all very relaxed and the topic each week closely reflects the Gospel reading, very often with a creative arts perspective.
We rejoin families within Mass just before the start of the Eucharistic Prayer, frequently as a procession up to the altar to present Fr John with examples of our session.
We are always delighted to welcome new children of any age and there are no minimum attendance requirements!!
